Pre-Conference Hospice Open Forum:
Surveying the Landscape
Sunday, October 3, 2010 • Noon to 2:30 p.m.
This
open forum will be led by Carla Braveman, BSN RN M.Ed.
CHCE, President and CEO of Big Bend Hospice in Tallahassee,
Florida, who chairs NAHC’s Hospice Association
of America. Along with Braveman, a panel of hospice
experts will provide a “survey course” of
the key challenges hospices face today – such as
the pending regulatory requirement for a physician face-to-face
encounter, physician involvement in certification and
recertification, billing issues, stepped-up program integrity
efforts and ongoing quality improvement activities. The
panel will also provide insights into work being conducted
by the Home Health and Hospice Financial Managers Association
to help shape anticipated payment reforms and refine
hospice cost reporting. Following a brief presentation
by panel members, the session will be open for questions
and discussion between the panel and audience
